South Ocala Elementary provides gifted services in gifted cluster classrooms and FLAME pullout.
Gifted Cluster classrooms are lead by teachers who have their gifted endorsement. The gifted endorsement is specialized education that gives these teachers a higher understanding for providing lessons and enrichment for those students eligible for gifted services. Gifted cluster classrooms have a mixed class of students that are high achievers and students that have been identified as eligible for gifted services.
FLAME (Fostering Learning Abilities in Marion Education) where students receive their gifted services from a gifted endorsed teacher in a pullout program instead of the gifted cluster classroom. FLAME is for students that have been identified as eligible for gifted services. They are receiving their gifted services one day a week outside of their classroom to address their gifted education plan goals.
Florida defines gifted students as students who have superior intellectual development and are capable of high performance.
