Clubs & Organizations

At South Ocala Elementary School, students will have the opportunity to partake in various enrichment clubs around campus. The purpose of the clubs and organizations is to provide students with a diversified portfolio of learning activities on campus beyond academics. Students will learn how to collaborate with their peers and develop essential leadership skills to be college and career ready. Students are encouraged to join and participate in clubs and organizations. Membership requirements are contained in each club's constitutions and by-laws. There are general requirements regarding eligibility for membership in any club or organization.

Student Membership Requirements:

In accordance with Marion County School Board and established school policies, certain requirements must be met by the individuals involved in activity programs.

These are as follows:

  1. All students involved in activities must have at least a "C" or higher in all subjects with an "E or S" in conduct and meet the club's requirements. Students may not have a fine on the "debt list".
  2. Students involved in any activities, whether on or off campus, are governed by the Marion County Code of Student Conduct.
  3. Students must complete a student participation and Parental Approval Form prior to joining any club.

Beautification Team

To ensure that the campus remains beautiful and immaculate, kindergarten students will take on the role of being part of the “Beautification Team”. Students will water the beautiful plants around campus and share with our custodial team areas that needs attention.

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society is an organization that caters to students in grade 4 and 5 to honor and recognize students who excel academically and model exceptional responsibility. An induction into the school’s National Elementary Honor Society chapter is also conducted.

“Membership provides an outstanding means to prepare and shape students for their middle level and high school experiences”. Students will be selected after the release of the Report Cards for Quarter 1.

Safety Patrol

The school Safety Patrol program is geared for 5th grade students who will take the lead in keeping students safe around campus. Safety Patrols are stationed at various posts around campus to help students find their way around campus.

Student Council

The purpose of South Ocala’s Student Council is to provide students the opportunity to continually develop their leadership ability by organizing ideas for school-wide incentives, projects, and activities. The Student Council is the voice of the student body for South Ocala Elementary School. Council members will help share student ideas, interests, and concerns with admin. The ideas shared will be presented and voted upon amongst the council. The Council will consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary and council members. Students are required to provide 3 recommendations and are selected by faculty and staff members of the school.

WSOE Morning News

Students will have the opportunity to be a news anchor on WSOE co-hosting with the Media Specialist and Leadership Team. Students will share “The Buzz” around SOE, the Pledge of Allegiance, moment of silence, weather report, SOE’s expectations, and other important news. Students practice their verbal and oral skills through presenting information and reading the news from a script. Mrs. Pittman, SOE’s Media Specialist, oversees the morning show that airs each morning throughout the school.

Yearbook Committee

Students have the opportunity to gain experience with photography and editing while creating the yearbook. Students will be enjoy meet after school to complete the tasks they are given. Selected students will receive a calendar of dates once the club begins. The yearbook committee starts every year after school pictures have been taken.

Media Festival

All students have the opportunity to submit ideas to be entered into the Media Festival. Students will be chosen by numerous staff members based on their ideas and submissions. Media Festival Members are sometimes required to participate in after school sessions. however, a majority of the time spent on creating videos will be completed during their scheduled Media Center time with the supervision of Mrs. Pittman, our Media Specialist.
