Top 20 Things to Know About SOE

Welcome to the 2025 - 2026 school year!

1. Campus security and student safety are top priorities for all school officials. All visitors must sign in at the front office and show a government issued photo identification.

2. The B.E.S.T. Benchmarks guide student learning in the classroom for K-5 grade classes. For more information about the B.E.S.T Benchmarks, please visit: https://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/18 736/ urlt/ELAStandards.pdf.

3. The first day of school is August 11, 2025. Instruction begins promptly at 7:35am. Help us ensure students arrive to school on time by 7:35am.

4. SOE will continue the IB-PYP focus. It is a continuous process of learning and our students will continue to learn how to implement the Learner Profile and build their knowledge through research.

5. School-wide Orientation for PreK-5th grade is August 8, 2025 from 10:00am-12:00pm.

6. Title 1 Academic Conference Night is tentatively scheduled for September 18, 2025 from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Date may change dependent on Book Fair.

7. Attend today, Achieve tomorrow. We aim for 95% student attendance every day. Be on time and present each day of school.

8. Supervision on campus begins at 7:10am. Please ensure students arrive on campus after 7:10am. Car line starts at 7:10am. To maintain the safety of our students, drop students off through carline and refrain from dropping students off in the parking lot. Students arriving after 7:35am must be escorted to the front office by an adult.

9. Early Checkout: If your student needs to be checked out early from school, the cut off time is 1:30pm.

10. SOE is a Positive Behavior Support School where students earn Buzz Bucks for modeling school-wide expectations. Students will have an opportunity to spend their Buzz Bucks on various prizes. The school-wide expectations are: Be Safe! Be Outstanding! Be Engaged!

12. Following Student Dress Code is part of success at SOE! Please help our students adhere to the dress code policy. School Spirit Days are every Friday. Students are welcomed to wear school shirts to support our school spirit day. Students will have an opportunity to purchase school spirit shirts on RevTrak.

13. All students receive FREE breakfast and lunch. You may setup an online account to cover the costs of a la carte items through My School Bucks-Online Meal Payment.

14. Lil’ Snowie and Hat days- For $3.00 students can wear a fun hat and enjoy a delicious Lil’ Snowie after lunch. This fundraiser assists the school in providing extras to our students and teachers. Funds are collected using our online RevTrak system for payment.

15. PE uniforms are not required, but please make sure your child wears appropriate shoes for sports, play, and other physical activities.

16. Please read every day with your child. Ask your students questions for comprehension and have your students summarize the text. Read math problems with your students and work out the problems with your student.

17. Prohibited items include wheelie book bags, external speakers, and outside beverages, such as fountain drinks, energy drinks, coffee, tea, sport drinks, or shakes.

18. Parents/Guardians may walk Pre-Kindergarten students to the cafeteria door the first 2 days of school.

19. Bus transportation questions can be answered by calling Transportation at 352-671-7050.

20. All Yellow Jacket stakeholders are needed to continually support the needs of our students. When all families, staff, and community leaders work together, we will achieve our goal of ensuring all students can achieve and master the standards.
